Islamizing the taleem and tarbiyah of our children – 6

21 Oct

(The writing that follows is my dialogue through email with a group on the Topic: Islamizing the Taleem and Tarbiyah of our children. I am maintaining the email format for ease of understanding as well as for maintaining originality of this dialogue.)

Assalamu Alaikum,

‘Begin with the end in mind’, was one of the key sentences in my last write-up. Should Fikr-e-A’akhirat not be our governing precept in all our actions? Is there a by-pass available? We should remember that the Law of Causation, “causal relationship between conduct and result” (One will bear what one sow’s), or ‘you will only reap what you sow’, ‘every cause has its effect’, is one of Allah subhana wa ta’ala’s strongest laws here in this life. The best among us – the Prophet (sallalahu alaihe wassalam) and the sahaba (raziAllahu Ta’ala unhu) were not exempt from this Law of Causation. Agreed?!! Then why do we live in dreams thinking that our wrong conduct or our negligence will not have any effect. In other words we can give much of non-Islamic literature and expose our children to harmful media, but they will come out as good Mu’mins. As per whatever little that i know of education and educational processes, it is just wishful thinking, and definitely for which we will be held responsible on the Day of Judgment. Should we be bothered?!!

Let us explore the reasons for our such conduct:
aa) Deficient knowledge about the process of education itself.
bb) Our confidence in the western educational research.
cc) Our incapacity of defining and developing our own education system.
dd) Our over occupation in other businesses of life.
ee) Over awe of the western society and its worldly developments.
ff) Our indifference to the present state of ummah and nervousness to embark upon any research.
gg) Non-Awareness of the role of education in the pursuance of national goals and objectives.

We can keep on adding in this list. I wish you all add reasons that you have in your mind. The discussion can be much more elaborative and interesting.

Can you feel the role of perception in what I have written above? Later we will discuss on this more logically Insha’Allah.

Truly,
Br. Abid.
